Unique Venues of London, the capital’s leading venue consortium, is celebrating a year of significant achievements, and has revealed a number of interesting insights that look set to make an impact in the industry in 2018.
Made up of over 86 of the city’s most distinctive heritage, landmark, modern and unusual spaces, the organisation generated more than £91 million in revenue over the last 12 months and held a staggering 32,500 events across its member venues.
Having evaluated the previous year using insights from its broad range of members, Unique Venues of London has provided a comprehensive overview of the current industry climate, as well as analysing current business attitudes, event management strategies, enquiry rates and sales and marketing statistics in the unique venues sector.
In 2017 all of the key event categories - dining events and receptions, conferences and meetings, private parties and weddings - showed growth and over a quarter of venues added a new event space.
Interestingly, members noticed that a number of technology services are increasingly being requested by event bookers with the most popular AV requests being video conferencing, filming and editing services and audio conferencing services. In terms of new technologies, the most frequent requests are interactive video walls, 4K Ultra high definition video and interactive digital signage and kiosks.
The outlook for 2018 is positive with 78% of members venues generally optimistic about the business outlook for the year ahead and 70% predicting revenue increases.
Lisa Hatswell, managing director of Unique Venues of London, comments: “We are delighted to report that our member venues have had yet another successful year, hosting an array of exciting events and making the most of the glorious spaces they have to offer. Looking into 2018, Unique Venues of London anticipates the emergence of new industry trends and delegate demands in terms of technology offering, package pricing and catering. As always, there’s a packed calendar across all of our unique venues and we cannot wait to see the outcomes of the teams’ hard work.”
This year, Unique Venues of London will celebrate 25 years in business. The organisation will mark the milestone with an anniversary celebration and a series of initiatives throughout the year to illustrate the impact it has had on London’s event scene in the last quarter of a century.
